This specimen is one of a type issued 2009-19 as part of the reform of the Mexican peso. It replaced a aluminum-bronze type (KM 549) struck 1992-2009. When the fifty centavos was introduced, one dollar was about three pesos; today (December 2024), US$1 = 20.6 pesos.
