This specimen was issued by the Mexico City mint to honor the bicentennial of the Mexican navy. Like many recent issues, it remains unlisted in the SCWC. The oblong patch on the obverse contains microengraving, an anticounterfeiting device. The navy was honored on a similar twenty pesos of 2016. The twenty pesos was reduced from 15.95 g, 32 mm diameter to 12.67 g, 30 mm diameter, in 2019.
