Brazil 1779-R 6400 reis
This specimen was lot 1207 in the Eliasberg sale, where it sold for $920. The type was struck 1777-86. The catalog description[1] noted, "1779 6,400 reis. Rio mint. AU-55 (NGC). Conjoined busts of Maria I and Pedro III to right, legends and date around/crowned arms. Medium gold surfaces with deeper orange gold toning in the recesses. Some minor hairlines are seen in the fields, but traces of lustre remain. From the John H. Clapp Collection; Clapp estate to Louis E. Eliasberg, Sr., 1942."
