This specimen was lot 23869 in Heritage sale 3026 (Long Beach, October 2013), where it sold for $1,997.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Maria I & Pedro III gold 6400 Reis 1779/8-B, MS62 NGC. Overdate unlisted on holder. Free of individually bothersome marks with flashy luster in the fields and minor weakness in the reverse shield. From The RLM Collection, Part II." This type was struck 1777-86 and is among the more available colonial gold coins of Brazil.
