This specimen was lot 23867 in Heritage sale 3026 (Long Beach, October 2013), where it sold for $1,410. The catalog description[1] noted, "Maria I & Pedro III gold 6400 Reis 1778-B, Uncirculated Details - Surface Hairlines NGC. Nicely defined with moderate hairlines in the fields. A sharply reeded example. From The RLM Collection, Part II." This type was struck 1777-86 and is among the more available colonial gold coins of Brazil tho the 1777 is a rare date.
