This specimen was lot 33278 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2025), where it sold for $960. The catalog description[1] noted, "SCOTLAND. 6 Shillings, 1633. Edinburgh Mint. Charles I. PCGS VF-35. First coinage. A fairly SCARCE type, this minor displays a rather even degree of handling across both sides, with some pleasant deep toning throughout. From the Richard August Collection." This was struck 1625-34 in the name of Charles I with the bust of the deceased James VI (I). It was probably equal to the English sixpence. We don't know why it was dated while the 12 shillings and 30 shillings were not.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 2.88 g, silver, 28 mm diameter.
