This specimen was lot 1113 in Jean Elsen sale 124 (Brussels, March 2015), where it sold for €550 (about US$686 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"FRANCE, Charles X (1824-1830), AV 40 francs, 1829 A, Paris. presque Superbe. (France, Charles X (1824-30), gold forty francs of 1829, Paris mint, almost extremely fine.)"

The entire production run, 1826-30, totaled about 455,000 pieces. The production of five franc pieces in the same period was 123 million.

Recorded mintage: 20,994[2], a fairly common date.
