Silesia-Liegnitz-Brieg 1622 thaler Dav-7724
This specimen was lot 3864 in Sincona sale 9 (Zurich, October 2012), where it sold for 4,000 CHF (about US$5,059 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"DEUTSCHLAND Schlesien-Liegnitz-Brieg, Herzogtum Georg Rudolf allein, 1621-1653. Taler 1622, Liegnitz. Sehr selten. Sehr schön. (Germany, duchy of Silesia-Liegnitz-Brieg, George Rudolf, 1621-53, thaler of 1622, Liegnitz mint, very rare, very fine.)"
Silesia is considered a German State even tho the province was then under Austrian rule and is now in Poland. This type, listed for 1621-22, is rare like all the thalers of this locality.
