This specimen was lot 1921 in Sedwick Auction 36 (Winter Park, FL, November 2024), where it sold for $. The catalog description[1] noted, "BOLIVIA, Potosí, cob 2 reales, 1662 E. Fine, broad struck on a thin planchet, parts of all three date visible with only the cross date certain, gunmetal gray-toned surfaces, possible small clipping on edge." After a major debasement scandal was uncovered at the Potosi mint 1649-52, assayer "E" (Antonio de Ergueta) was brought in to clean house and served 1650-79.
