France 1710BB demi ecu rev DSLR.jpg

The specimen shown is a 44 sols de Strasbourg struck at that town during the reign of Louis XIV of France. It is the same size as the earlier 33 sols de Strasbourg. The type was issued 1709-13 from that mint in fairly large numbers but is today scarce. It was likely struck for circulation in Germany.

Recorded mintage: 474,512[1].

Specification: 12.39 g, 0.833 fine silver, 33 mm diameter, plain edge, designed by Norbert Roëttiers.

Catalog reference: Dr/4 № 634, Dr/2 № 517, Gad-200, KM 409.2.
