This specimen was lot 56164 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2024), where it sold for $576. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRANCE. Ecu, 1710-S. Reims Mint. Louis XIV. NGC AU-55." Shown is a écu aux trois couronnes (écu with three crowns) struck at the Reims mint in the last years of Louis XIV's reign. This is the last type of écu struck during the Sun King's life. The type was struck 1709-15 in substantial numbers. There are also 1/10, 1/4 and 1/2 écus struck during this period with this design.

Recorded mintage: 927,221[2], common.

Specification: 30.59 g, 0.917 fine silver, edge lettered "DOMINE SALVUM FAC REGEM", designed by Norbert Roëttiers.
