Aureo y Calicó sale 423, lot 1455

This specimen was lot 1455 in Aureo y Calicó sale 423 (Barcelona, December 2023), where it sold for 240 € (about US$311 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "1758. Fernando VI. Seville. JV. 2 reales. Attractive. Scarce in this condition. EBC- [about extremely fine]." This type was astruck at Madrid and at Seville 1754, 1757-59. Confusingly, both mints had assayer JV in 1758; we don't know if it was the same person.

Specifications: 6.77 g, 0.917 fine silver, this specimen 5,85 g.
