Sincona sale 6, lot 1818

This specimen was lot 1818 in Sincona sale 6 (Zurich, May 2012), where it sold for 170 CHF (about US$209 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"NIEDERLANDE Königreich der Niederlande Wilhelm III. 1849-1890. 1 Gulden 1851. Vorzüglich. (Kingdom of the Netherlands, William III, 1849-90, gulden of 1851, extremely fine.)"

This type was struck 1850-67 in substantial numbers. Some dates are common but this is a better date. No one gulden coins were struck between 1867 and 1892.

Recorded mintage: 2,125,148.

Specification: 10 g, .945 fine silver, .303 troy oz ASW; this specimen is 10,00 g.
