This specimen was lot 843 in Stack's Coin Galleries sale (New York, December 2009), where it sold for $126.50. The catalog description noted, "CANADA. Edward VII, 1901-1910. Cent, 1909. Crowned bust r. Rv. Value in dotted circle and maple. Blazing mint red. Choice Brilliant Uncirculated." This type was struck 1902-10 and is plentiful in grades up to Extremely Fine but is not common in the quality shown here. There was a similar issue for Newfoundland.

Recorded mintage: 3,973,339.

Specification: 5.67 g, bronze, 25.4 mm diameter, plain edge, designed by G. W. DeSalles.
