This specimen was lot 20223 in Ponterio sale 176 (Chicago, August 2013), where it sold for $4,994. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. William and Mary, 1688-1694. Guinea, 1689. Elephant and Castle. Conjoined busts right. Rv. Crowned ungarnished arms; lion of Nassau in center. Ample natural luster and faint wear on the high points. A lovely coin. NGC AU-50. Ex: Seaby, 1979 ANA." This type was struck with (shown here) and without (Fr-304) the elephant symbol below the busts.
