This specimen was lot 2215 in Goldberg sale 81 (Los Angeles, September 2014), where it sold for $1,351.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "Great Britain. Halfcrown, 1689. William and Mary. First busts. Reverse: Second crowned shield. This is a delightful specimen, with considerable original mint luster and old cabinet toning. NGC graded AU-58." Two different reverses are noted for the 1689 half crown; on the first, the arms of France occupy the first quarter and the arms of England the fourth. On this reverse, the arms of France and England are quartered together and share the first and fourth quarters.
