Ensisheim in upper Alsace. The political situation is of 1477, on the collapse of the Burgundians. Upper Alsace would be ruled by the Hapsburgs until 1648 when it passed to France.

This specimen was lot 3556 in Goldberg sale 85 (Los Angeles, June 2015), where it sold for $270. The catalog description^[1] noted, "Austria. Taler, 1621 (Ensisheim). Archduke Leopold as Bishop of Strassburg. NGC graded About Uncirculated, Details (Surface Hairlines). Ex: Purchased from Bowers and Ruddy by private treaty in 1978." This type is mentioned by Davenport for 1621 and 1624 and as common.
