This type was the first 1 real issued from the fledgling Republic of Colombia, Bogotá mint. This specimen was lot 25593 and sold on April 18, 2011 for $230 at the 2011 April Rosemont Signature World and Ancient Coins (CICF) Auction #3014 by Heritage Auctions. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republica 1827 Bogotá 1 Real, Scarce first year of type. Very Fine. From The Dana Roberts Collection."
This type was preceded by the "LIBERTAD AMERICANA" struck 1819-20 (see KM 78).
