This specimen was lot 42351 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $1,140. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. 1827-RU Real. Popayán mint. VF-25 (PCGS). The rare first date of the Popayán one Real series. Deep gray with warm gold and rose toning. Scattered planchet flecks are noted, but no post-striking problems despite a fair bit of circulation. A very good looking example. Ex. Freeman Craig, May 1987." This type was struck 1827-34 at Popayan and 1827-36 at Bogotá.
