This specimen was lot 41343 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $552. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Calenberg & Luneburg (Celle). Taler, 1662-HS. Zellerfeld Mint. Christian Ludwig. PCGS AU-50. From the Robert C. Knepper Collection." This type was struck for Christian Ludwig struck 1654-62 and 1665. His successor, Georg Wilhelm, was the last duke of the line. The duchy of Brunswick-Luneburg-Celle then passed to Hannover in 1705.
