Künker sale 294, lot 4098

This specimen was lot 4098 in Künker sale 294 (Osnabrück, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €5,700 (about US$7,683 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"REICHSGOLDMÜNZEN, MECKLENBURG-STRELITZ, Friedrich Wilhelm, 1860-1904. 20 Mark 1873. R Sehr schön +. (Germany, unified gold coinage, grand duchy of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, Frederick William, 1860-1904, twenty mark of 1873. Scarce, very fine or better.)"

This type was struck 1873 only and is rare. It was accompanied by a ten mark (KM 104).

Recorded mintage: 6,750.

Specification: 7.96 g, 0.900 fine gold.
