Flanders 1478 groat
This specimen was lot 1828 in Jean Elsen sale 145 (Brussels, September 2020), where it sold for €220 (about US$314 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"VLAANDEREN, Graafschap, Maria van Bourgondië (1477-1482), AR groot, 1478, Brugge. Vz/ Grote M in een vierpas. Kz/ Gebloemd kruis. Met C FL op vz. Zeer Fraai. (county of Flanders, Maria of Burgundy, 1477-82, silver groat of 1478, Bruges mint. Obverse: large "M" in quadrilobe with C FL in the legend; reverse: floriate cross. Very Fine.)"
Maria's marriage ot Maximilian of Hapsburg attached the Burgundian domain to Austria, altho the king of France obtained a slice.
