Sincona sale 78, lot 555

This specimen was lot 555 in Sincona sale 78 (Zürich, October 2022), where it sold for 5,250 CHF (about US$300 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA | Russian Empire and Federation | Alexander III. 1881-1894, 50 Kopecks 1892, St. Petersburg Mint, (AG). NGC UNC Details. Slightly cleaned." This type is listed for 1886-94, superseding the old poltina or half ruble. All dates are scarce. Alexander III ruled 1881-94. Mintmaster AG was Appolon Grasgov.

Recorded mintage: 2,006.

Specification: 10.0 g, 0.900 fine silver.
