This specimen was lot 31799 in Heritage sale 3073 (Chicago, April 2019), where it sold for $1,440. The catalog description[1] noted, "Alexander III Rouble 1892-AГ MS62 NGC, St. Petersburg mint. Variety with beard closer to the legend. Obv. Bust of Alexander III right. Rev. Crowned double-headed eagle with date and value. Bright silver luster with bold devices and moderate surface marks. From the Engelen Collection of World Coinage." This date is from a type struck 1886-94. The type must have been subjected to extensive melting as all dates are rare. In 1886, the ruble was reduced to 20 grams after having been fixed at 20.73 grams since 1798. This specimen realized one-third of the catalog value.

Recorded mintage: 2,131,000 plus proofs.
