Mexico 1773-Mo FM 8 reales

Shown is an 1773MoFM eight reales of Charles III, one of a type struck 1773-84 at Mexico City. Assayer FM is recorded for the years 1770-77. The 1773 is also known with inverted mintmark and assayers' initials (see the entry for 1772). The dollar that George Washington allegedly threw over the Potomac could have been of this type.
