Stack's Bowers 2019 Collector's Choice sale, lot 72889

This specimen was lot 72889 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, October 2019), where it sold for $80. The catalog description[1] noted, "URUGUAY. 2 Centesimos, 1909-A. Paris Mint. NGC MS-66. The single finest known example certified by either PCGS or NGC, this champagne white piece with satiny, radiant luster is a must have for the serious Uruguayan collector. From the Cerro Catedral Collection." This type was struck 1901, 1909, 1924, 1936 and 1941 at Paris except for the 1924, struck at Poissy. It accompanied a similar one and five centésimos.

Recorded mintage: 10,000,000.

Specification: 5 g, copper-nickel, plain edge, 23 mm diameter.
