This specimen was lot 72888 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, October 2019), where it sold for $85. The catalog description[1] noted, "URUGUAY. 2 Centesimos, 1901-A. Paris Mint. PCGS MS-66 Gold Shield. Champagne toned and virtually flawless, this piece is the finest known for either PCGS or NGC. From the Cerro Catedral Collection." This type was struck 1901, 1909, 1924, 1936 and 1941 at Paris except for the 1924, struck at Poissy. It accompanied a similar one and five centésimos.
