This specimen was lot 30747 in Heritage sale 3081 (New York, January 2020), where it sold for $4,320. The catalog description[1] noted, "Great Britain: George II gold 1/2 Guinea 1746 MS62 NGC. A type which hardly ever enters Mint State, and even for its near-gem grade this piece appears conservatively certified. Its fields are almost completely clear and its production quality immense. Fully lustrous and razor-sharp, this is amongst the finest Half Guineas the cataloger has seen." This type was struck 1740, 1743, 1745-46.
