Sincona sale 97, lot 2063

This specimen was lot 2063 in SINCONA Auction 97 (Zürich, May 2025), where it sold for 1,700 CHF (about US$2,466 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RDR / ÖSTERREICH, Franz Joseph I. 1848-1916. 4 Dukaten 1865 A, Wien. Sehr schön. Kratzer und Randfehler. (empire of Austria, Francis Joseph I, 1848-1916, quadruple ducat of 1865, Vienna mint. Very Fine, Scratches and edge nicks.)"

This type was struck at Vienna (mintmark "A") 1860-65 and at Venice 1864-65. The Vienna issue is expensive but available and the Venice product is rare.

Recorded mintage: 30,736.

Specifications: 13.96 g, 0.986 fine gold, 0.442 troy oz AGW, this specimen 13.85 g.
