The first specimen was lot 26866 in Heritage sale 3026 (Long Beach, October 2013), where it sold for $176.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "Frederik III 2 Mark 1666-GK, VF. A pleasing, extremely original specimen with moderate flattening of the highpoints and some encrustation within the obverse legends." The second specimen was lot 30477 in Heritage sale 3029 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $528.75. The catalog description[2] noted, "Frederik III 2 Mark 1666-GK, Copenhagen mint, AU50 NGC. This olive-toned example shows underlying luster. There are numerous varieties of this type; the defining characteristics of this particular variety are: there is no ring on the obverse, the date is in the legend, and the legend beneath the crown is in script." This type was issued 1665-67 in numerous varieties (KM 259.1, 259.2, 259.3, 267.1, 267.2, 268, 269.1, 269.2) to suggest that multiple mints were at work. The type is inexpensive in worn condition but the price advances rapidly with grade.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 11.31 g, .671 fine silver.

Catalog reference: KM 259.1, Sieg-36.1, Hede-107A.
