This specimen was lot 42698 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2019), where it sold for $85. The catalog description[1] noted, "DENMARK. Gluckstadt. 1/16 Speciedaler, 1668. Frederik III (1648-70). PCGS AU-58 Gold Shield. Attractive quality with light tone and a bold portrait. Seldom encountered more pleasing." Gluckstadt, a town on the Elbe downstream of the city of Hamburg, was founded in 1617 by the kings of Denmark and later made the capital of the duchy of Holstein, which they ruled. This 1/16 speciedaler or three skilling Lybsk was struck 1667-70. It is noted as common. The denomination was struck 1623-80.
