Sincona sale 75, lot 153

This specimen was lot 153 in Sincona sale 75 (Zürich, May 2022), where it sold for 5,375 CHF (about US$6,524 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "Grossbritannien | Königreich. James II. 1685-1688. 1/2 Guinea 1686, London. First laureate bust. NGC AU58." This type was struck 1685-86, along with a few with the elephant and castle below the bust, and is very rare.

Specification: 4.175 g, 0.917 fine gold, this specimen 4.18 g.
