The first specimen was lot 1812 in Sedwick Treasure Auction 28 (Winter Park, FL, November 2020), where it sold for $570. The catalog description[1] noted, "Lima, Peru, 1/4 real, 1814. UNC with pewter-toned centers and lustrous gold hues around the rims." The second specimen was lot 72325 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2023), where it sold for $480. The catalog description[2] noted, "PERU. 1/4 Real, 1814-L. Lima Mint. Ferdinand VII. NGC MS-64. This specimen displays satiny luster overlaid with light champagne gold toning. Great eye appeal is evident as the design details strongly contrast with the lustrous fields - making this an extremely attractive specimen." The third specimen was lot 51223 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2024), where it sold for $720. The catalog description[3] noted, "PERU. 1/4 Real, 1814-L. Lima Mint. Ferdinand VII. NGC MS-65. Variety with upwards-slanting tongue on lion. A gorgeous Gem, full of frosty luster and elegant sunset tone. Offering a perfect strike almost devoid of wear, this piece stands as a superlative example of the date. From the EMO Collection. Privately purchased from Freeman Craig." Cuartillas were struck in Lima starting in 1796. The SCWC divides the issues of Charles IV (KM 102) from those of Ferdinand VII (KM 108) even tho the ruler's name is not marked on the coin.

Specification: 0.84 g, 0.896 fine silver, .024 troy oz ASW, the first specimen 0.73 gram.
