Künker sale 386, lot 6169

This specimen was lot 6169 in Künker sale 386 (Osnabrück, March 2023), where it sold for €13,000 (about US$16,799 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"REICHSGOLDMÜNZEN, BAYERN, Otto II. 1886-1913. 10 Mark 1900. Äußerst selten in dieser Erhaltung. Polierte Platte. (kingdom of Bavaria, Otto II, 1886-1913, ten mark of 1900. Very scarce in this quality, proof.)"

This type was struck 1890, 1893, 1896-1900. The revised type, KM 994, with the obverse legend changed to read "V. BAYERN", was struck 1900-12.

Recorded mintage: 140,798 (including KM 994) plus proofs, a better date.

Specification: 3.98 g, 0.900 fine gold, reeded edge.
