Künker sale 353, lot 3673

This specimen was lot 3673 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich II. der Große, 1740-1786. 3-Gröscher 1785, A, Berlin. Prägung für die Provinz Preußen. Greisenantlitz. Mit 3 / A zwischen der geteilten Jahreszahl. Feine Patina, Schrötlingsfehler, vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. Erworben im April 1975. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick II the Great, 1740-86, three groscher of 1785, Berlin mint, struck for the province of Prussia, old head, with the value dividing the date. Fine patina, planchet flaws, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"

This type was struck at Berlin in 1779-85 and at Königsberg 1771-86. The Königsberg issue is common, the Berlin is somewhat scarce.

Recorded mintage: 5,906,220.

Specification: 1.67 g, 20 mm diameter, this specimen is 1,63 g.
