This specimen was lot 4227 in Sincona sale 95 (Zürich, October 2024), where it sold for 3,000 CHF (about US$4,158 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ Genf/Genève, Stadt und Kanton, Halbtaler 1597, Genf. Mzz. G mit kleinem I in der Öffnung von G für Münzmeister Jean Gringalet. Sehr selten. Fast sehr schön. Der einzige Halbtaler Genfs des 16. Jahrhunderts. (Switzerland, canton of Geneva, half thaler of 1597, Geneva mint, mintmark G with small I in the opening of G for mint master Jean Gringalet. Very rare, About Very Fine.)"
This rare type is not listed in the SCWC or Numista. It is very similar to KM 27 of 1621-30, 1633, 1638-41, 1657-59. One thaler was 96 sols.
Record mintage: unknown.
Specification: silver, this specimen 13.93 g.
