Sincona sale 91, lot 3251

This specimen was lot 3251 in Sincona sale 91 (Zürich, May 2024), where it sold for 1,700 CHF (about US$2,246 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Genf/Genève, Stadt und Kanton, 3 Quarts 1598, Genf. Silberabschlag. Von grösster Seltenheit. Gutes sehr schön. (Switzerland, canton of Geneva, three quarts of 1598, Geneva mint, struck in silver. Of the highest rarity, Good very fine.)"

Three quarts was nine deniers or ¾ sol. This type is listed for 1593-99. Unusually, this date lacks a mintmark.
