This specimen was lot 31283 in Heritage sale 3041 (Chicago, August 2015), where it sold for $282. The catalog description[1] noted, "Charles IV gold Escudo 1806/5 Mo-TH AU Details (Scratches) NGC, Mexico City mint, A lightly-scratched example with a noticeably strong portrait. Even with a details assignment, this is a pleasing example that displays residual luster. From The Rudman Collection of Mexican Coins." All Mexican colonial gold may be considered scarce. The type was struck 1792-1808 and is the most plentiful of all the colonial one escudos.

Specification: 3.38 g, 0.875 fine gold, .095 troy oz AGW.
