This specimen was lot 40082 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $336. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. 1806-JT Escudo. Popayán mint. Carlos IV (1788-1808). AU-55 (PCGS). Well struck and perfectly centered, with beautiful medium yellow gold surfaces. A thin die crack descends behind the bust. Lustrous and problem free. From the Eldorado Collection of Colombian Coins. Ex. Glendining's sale of November 1971, lot 486." This type was struck at Nuevo Reino (Bogotá) and Popayán 1791-1808 and is a common gold coin of Charles IV.
