Sincona sale 43, lot 2158

This specimen was lot 2158 in Sincona sale 43 (Zürich, October 2017), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"Sachsen, 1547 Kurfürstentum, Albertiner, Friedrich August II. 1733-1763 Groschen (1/24 Taler) 1753. Dresden. Selten in dieser Erhaltung. Prachtvolle Erhaltung. FDC. NGC MS64. (Germany, electorate of Saxony, Frederick August II, 1733-63, groschen of 1753, Dresden mint. Rare in this condition, Cabinet piece, Brilliant uncirculated.)"

This type was struck 1734-60 from billon (debased silver). We don't know the weight but it almost certainly was not the 42.94 g stated in the Sincona catalog.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: billon, this specimen 42.94 g (sic).

Catalog reference: KM 884, Kahnt 580. Kohl 494.
