This specimen was lot 1543 in Sincona sale 18 (Zürich, May 2014), where it sold for CHF 120 (about US$158 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Taler 1855. Dresden Münzbesuch. Gutes sehr schön. (kingdom of Saxony, thaler of 1855, mint visit, good very fine.)"
This thaler was issued on the occasion of the king's visit to the Dresden mint. Despite the tiny mintage, enough were saved that it is fairly common.
Recorded mintage: 5,250.
Specification: 22.27 g, 0.750 fine silver, .536 troy oz ASW, lettered edge, this specimen 22.13 g.
