Künker sale 335, lot 4313

This specimen was lot 4313 in Künker sale 335 (Osnabruck, Germany, March 2020), where it sold for €340 (about US$445 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SACHSEN, SACHSEN, KÖNIGREICH. Johann, 1854-1873. Taler 1855, F. Vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. (Germany, kingdom of Saxony, John, 1854-73, thaler of 1855. Extremely fine to uncirculated.)"

This type was struck 1855-56 and is common. In 1855, the mint also struck another thaler (KM 1187), commemorating a visit by the king.

Recorded mintage: 863,000.

Specification: 22.27 g, 0.750 fine silver, this specimen 22.21 g.
