This specimen was lot 2523 in Sincona sale 80 (Zürich, October 2022), where it sold for 4,750 CHF (about US$5,693 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "IRAN, Nasir al-Din Shah, 1264-1313 AH (1848-1896). 10 Tomans 1311 AH (1894), Teheran. Very rare. PCGS AU Details. Slightly cleaned." This is the largest gold coin of the regime to have actually circulated. Coins of 25 tomans exist (KM 951, 952, 953) but are semi-medallic in nature. This type was struck AH 1297 and AH 1311, probably with dies from Heaton, England. Other ten toman exist dated AH 1311; one with a different bust (KM 946) and another with the Persian lion on the obverse (KM 947).
