Sincona sale 18, lot 1046

This specimen was lot 1046 in Sincona sale 18 (Zürich, May 2014), where it sold for CHF 72 (about US$95 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"5 Francs 1853. Auf die Hochzeit des Herzogs von Brabant. Fast vorzüglich-vorzüglich. (Belgium, five francs of 1853, on the wedding of the duke of Brabant, very fine to extremely fine.)"

This type is dismissed by the SCWC as a medal and not listed therein. Davenport mentions it and assigns it a number so we will include it.

Recorded mintage: 81,739.

Specification: 25 g, 0.900 fine silver, .723 troy oz ASW, lettered edge, this specimen 25.02 g.

Catalog reference: Dav-52; KMX-2.1.
