This specimen was lot 909 in Sincona sale 46 (Zürich, May 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"SPANIEN, Königreich, Carlos IV. 1788-1808. 2 Escudos 1803, CN-Sevilla. Sehr schön. (kingdom of Spain, Charles IV, 1788-1808, two escudos of 1803, Seville mint. Very fine.)"
This type was struck 1788-1808 at Madrid and Seville. It is the most common Spanish gold coin of the old (reales/escudos) system.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 6.77 g, 0.875 fine gold; this specimen is 6.72 g.
