This specimen was lot 5188 in Sincona sale 80 (Zürich, October 2022), where it sold for 40,000 CHF (about US$47,940 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SWITZERLAND | Lucerne | Stadt und Kanton, Doppeldukat 1714, Luzern. Jahreszahl, Wertangabe und Inschrift in einer Kartusche. Rv. Der Heilige Leodegar in vollem Ornat. Äusserst selten. NGC MS65. Prachtexemplar. (city and canton of Luzern, double ducat of 1714, Luzern mint. Obverse: date and value in cartouche; reverse: St. Leodegar. Extremely rare, Cabinet piece.)"
This rare type was struck in 1714 along with another double ducat (KM A151) with the city arms instead of St. Leodegar. That year, the city struck multiple ducats up to ten ducats (Fr-308).
