Sincona sale 95, lot 4312

This specimen was lot 4312 in Sincona sale 95 (Zürich, October 2024), where it sold for 325 CHF (about US$451 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Luzern, Stadt und Kanton, 20 Kreuzer 1713, Luzern. Selten in dieser Erhaltung. Vorzüglich. Hübsche Patina. (Switzerland, canton of Luzern, twenty kreuzer of 1713, Luzern mint. Rare in this condition, Extremely Fine, Attractively toned.)"

This type was struck 1713-14 and 1724-25. The convention thaler, which superseded the reichs thaler in the 1740's, was worth 120 kreuzer or two gulden.
