This specimen was lot 31313 in Heritage sale 3041 (Chicago, August 2015), where it sold for $822.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Charles IV gold 4 Escudos 1795 Mo-FM AU Details (Obverse Damage) NGC, Mexico City mint. A shiny coin, nearly Uncirculated and showing essentially full mint luster, with a small scrape to the right of the bust defining the designation. Still attractive and unusually sharp for this scarce type. From The Rudman Collection of Mexican Coins." All Mexican colonial gold may be considered scarce. The type was struck 1792-1808 and is the most plentiful of all the colonial two escudos.
