Stack's Bowers 2021 NYINC sale, lot 23814

This specimen was lot 23814 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (Newport Beach, CA, January 2021), where it sold for $504. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Sovereign, 1999. NGC PROOF-69 Ultra Cameo. A sharply struck and well preserved example with hard mirrored fields and frosted devices. Free of tone, haze or fog. From the Collection of Richard Jewell." This type was struck 1998-2008 for sale to collectors and did not circulate altho some show signs of mishandling.

Recorded mintage: 10,000 proofs.

Specification: 7.99 g, 0.917 fine gold, 22 mm diameter, 0.2355 troy oz AGW.
