This specimen was lot 1058 in Sincona sale 90 (Zurich, May 2024), where it sold for 8,500 CHF (about US$11,232 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"DEUTSCHLAND Nürnberg, Stadt, Taler 1628, Nürnberg. Abschlag von den Stempeln des Doppeltalers. Von grösster Seltenheit als einfacher Taler. Fast vorzüglich. Sammlerpunze im Rand auf 12 Uhr. (Germany, city of Nuremberg, thaler of 1628, Nuremberg mint, struck using double thaler dies. Of the highest rarity in the weight of a single taler, About extremely fine, Collector's hallmark on edge at 12 o'clock.)"
This is the rarest of the five thalers issued by the city in 1628: KM 52/Dav-5636, KM 71/Dav-5637, KM 83/Dav-5640 (shown here), KM 87/Dav-5641 and KM 88/Dav-5642.
